Penny Art Auction Raises Funds For Menopause Support Event

It’s important to me that the Menopause Information and Support Event is free to attend, but like any event, there are some costs we need to cover. It can be tough to find funding these days, but I came up with a fun idea to help out! As part of the artist duo QUIETBRITISHACCENT, I decided to paint a special pre-decimal penny and auction it on eBay. I'm so happy to share that we raised £117, and all of that will go directly towards making our event happen.

The artwork features a hand-painted British 1911 One Penny, adorned with enamel paint. The phrase "HOT FLUSH" is prominently displayed in pink and yellow. The penny is framed in a circular black resin frame, measuring 93 mm in diameter and 17 mm deep. The penny is dated 1911, the year when International Women’s Day was officially recognised.

A hand is holding a round, black-framed, pre-decimal penny with the words Hot Flush painted on the penny, in pink and yellow.
